Facilities for hire
Morlan has rooms for hire which are suitable for a wide range of activities – from small interviews to large committees, from concerts, plays and films, to book fairs, social evenings and dance classes, as well as conferences, public meetings, training events, wedding receptions and all sorts of other events.
A room can be hired for as little as one hour or for longer periods – morning, afternoon or evening – at very competitive rates, and we offer concessionary rates to charitable, religious or community organisations/groups, or for events that conform to Morlan’s aims ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to find out our hire rates). We aim to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere to all who use the centre.
The hire costs include the room hire with the room arranged as per your requirements – be it theatre style, cabaret style, boardroom style, or whatever – with jugs of tap water provided if needed. We will do our best to accomodate you according to your needs.
Any organisation or individual can hire a room (or rooms) at Morlan as long as they provide written information about themselves on the booking form, and provide additional information if requested. Under some circumstances, Morlan may refuse a request to hire a room. These are explained in the document Terms and Conditions of Hire along with all the other terms and conditions.
Important Documents
Hall
Morlan’s multi-purpose hall is suitable for concerts, plays and all sorts of performances. It has a stage that can be adapted with regards to shape, height and size, a piano, sound and lighting systems, and a ‘backstage’ area or 'green room'. The hall is also suitable for large committees, conferences, lectures, public meetings, book or craft fairs, and dance, exercise and singing classes; it can be arranged, with chairs and tables, according to the needs of the event. If you don't require the full capacity of the hall, we have curtains that can be drawn across the room to provide a smaller, more intimate space. Morlan is licensed to play recorded music.
The hall can hold over 200 people theatre style and around 100 people cabaret style. It measures 21m x 11.9m.
Committee Rooms Morlan has two committee rooms:
Coffee Bar
The Coffee Bar is on two levels with our Gallery located on the upper level and hosts art exhibitions throughout the year – please contact Morlan for more information.
Catering
We can provide drinks for your event. Morlan is a Fairtrade centre so only serves Fairtrade orange juice, teas, coffees, sugar and, whenever possible, biscuits. Alternatively, you can hire our kitchen facilities to make and serve your own drinks; this must be done by prior arrangement.
If you need catering during office hours, this must be done through Morlan and Morlan has set up a catering contract with treehouse an organic foodshop and restaurant in Aberystwyth. All ingredients used by treehouse are: • organically produced if available • locally and seasonally sourced wherever possible • fair trade where relevant.
If your event is outside office hours or over the weekend, you can choose between using Morlan's catering arrangements or making your own arrangements.
See our Terms and Conditions of Hire for further details.
