BE MY BABY
7.30, nos Iau, 4 Awst
7.30, Thursday, 4 August

Cyfle arall i weld cyflwyniad campus Theatr Louche o Be My Baby gan Amanda Whittington cyn iddynt adael am Ŵyl Fringe Caeredin. Buont yno yn ystod 2010 a chael chwech o enwebiadau – rhai unigol a rhai i’r cwmni – ar gyfer gwobrau gwahanol. Eleni, byddant yn perfformio yn Theatr Greenside, Royal Terrace o 15 i 20 Awst am 2.45pm.
Lleolir Be My Baby yn 1964 ac mae’n dilyn hanes Mary Adams, 19 oed ac yn feichiog, sy'n cael ei hanfon i Gartref Mam a’i Phlentyn ble mae’n rhaid iddi hi a'r merched eraill ymdopi â gwarth eu beichiogrwydd a wynebu’r ffaith y bydd yn rhaid iddynt roi eu babanod i’w mabwysiadu. Wrth iddynt gyd-ganu i ganeuon poblogaidd y cyfnod mae drama ddoniol a dwys yn datblygu – sy’n cael ei diffinio gan y caneuon hynny.
Byddwch yn barod felly am awr a hanner o ddagrau a chwerthin a lot o ferched boliog! Yn dilyn y perfformiadau diweddar o'r ddrama hon yn y Morlan, ysgrifennodd Adam Somerset o Theatre in Wales: “... mae afon o boen yn llifo trwy ‘Be My Baby’. Dyna'n wir sy'n gwneud theatr fawr.”

Another chance to see Louche Theatre's excellent production of Be My Baby by Amanda Whittington before they leave for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe where, last year, they were nominated for six company and individual awards. This year, they will be performing at the Greenside Theatre, Royal Terrace from 15 to 20 August at 2.45pm.
Set in 1964, Be My Baby follows the fortunes of Mary Adams, aged 19 and seven months pregnant. Sent to a Mother and Baby Home; Mary and her fellow inmates have to cope with the shame of their pregnancy and the dawning realisation they will have to give their baby up for adoption. As they sing along to the girl group songs of the period, a touching and funny piece of work unfolds – defined by those very songs.
Be prepared therefore for an hour and a half of tears, laughter and baby bumps! Following the recent successful performances at the Morlan, Adam Somerset from Theatre in Wales wrote: “... a river of pain runs through ‘Be My Baby’. That makes it big theatre indeed”.
